on being a furry

so yea you've probably heard of the furry fandom a group of people united by there liking for anthropomorphic characters good examples include sonic or the characters from star fox. although liking these characters dosnt make you a furry.

saying that there are alot of different ideas associated with furries or furs (theres an idea that there are more definitions of the fandom then there are members)  for some people (like me) its simply the art or character design  others like to dress up in tails and ears or even full body fur suits  (similar to mascot costumes) and go to cons(conventions)others  associate strongly with animals.

 for me that means art and writing as well as a fascination with nature. growing up in a rural area of the country meant i was exposed to nature quite allot I spent more than a few days beating(making noise to drive out game for the shooters) and contrary to what you might think it bread a strong respect for nature.


 and so while exploring the internet one day I discovered the  furry fandom. I  already knew about  anthro art before that but couldn't put a name to it and furries generally  seemed like decent and rather open minded individuals  .

there are problems. furries have at best a misunderstanding with the general public such things as CSI, MTV and the bbc (atleast once) haven't helped that for the most part painting a picture of of sex opesesd deviants (CSI took this to hilarious extremes) as it is very few of us are like this (there are the very vocal minority but every group has this ) the majority are completely harmless but it dosnt stop the media looking for controversy.

however because of this I and alot of others keep there furrynes secret (probably not the best idea) that and my family have a restricting view on social conformity at which point if i didnt keep it so quite a trip to the shrink would probably be around the corner so on so on.

but im happy where i am don't get me wrong id love a pair of wolf ears if only for a piece of funny stage ware for when I play gigs but that's a different story.

anyway that's my 2 pence from a furry for whoever and if this is a member of my family reading this we can talk if you want next time we see each other and ill explain it all
